Kept in its original wrap with "B.C.R.C." seals, this uncirculated brick of 500 Australes banknotes comes from a defining moment in Argentina's economic transformation. Printed by the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic between 1988 and 1990, these notes form part of the ND "Austral" series--introduced as the nation abandoned the long-standing Peso Ley and recalibrated its currency at 1 Austral = 1,000 Pesos. The Australes became a symbol of Argentina's effort to rein in inflation and reset its monetary system during the turbulent late 1980s.
